Two women peek outside at the snow as the other two sit close to what seems to be a brazier. Perhaps it is the first day of snow for the season, thus attracting the attention of the elegant women, one of whom, dressed in thick winter clothes, absentmindedly reaches to refill her pipe. Three of the women sit under a kotatsu table under which a charcoal burner would have been placed, the thick blanket being used to keep the heat in. One woman reclines with a few books, giving us the image of a very cosy and relaxing day.
