Description
Some courtesans and a helper industriously gather spring herbs at the right of the print, while a courtesan at the left of the print lazily empties her tobacco pipe and another looks on. Perhaps they are collecting the "seven herbs of spring" (nanakusa) for the Japanese Festival of the Seven Herbs (Nanakusa no Sekku) held on the seventh of January in which seven-herb rice porridge is eaten.
