Description
This is from the series Famous Places in the Sixty-odd Provinces by Hiroshige. The view is from Ishiyama Temple - we can’t see the temple itself here - and Lake Biwa spreads out beyond the bridge.
Hiroshige depicted this dynamic view in good perspective, from the close-range view with many houses and people to the distant view of mountains and sky. The high mountain at the upper right is Omi-fuji.
The flock of wild geese flying home at dusk evokes the peaceful impression to the image.
