Description

The word ‘Gifu’ in the title of this image refers to a place famous for making beautiful lanterns used during the buddhist ’O-bon’ period, when spirits of family ancestors are said to return to this world.

The image depicts a Japanese summer scene through use of such items as the bamboo blind, fan on the floor and the clearly thin material making up her kimono.
