Description
A 'wide' tanzaku-ban Hiroshige print in the kacho-e (bird-flower picture) genre. The poem - 白鷺下田千點雪 黄鴬上樹一枝花 - can be rendered: "White herons fly low across the fields, like a thousand flakes of snow; Yellow birds perch on the tree, like flowers clustered on a branch" (translation by the MFA). The feathers of the heron are done with kara-zuri blind-embossing.
