The actor Tanimura Torazo 谷村虎蔵 is here portrayed in the role of Washizuka Yaheiji 鷲塚八平次 in the Kabuki play ‘Koi Nyobo Somewake Tazuna' (恋女房染分手綱).

Yaheiji plays the 'bad guy' in this drama, and Sharaku depicts his character very efficiently through the shape of his eyes and nose, by turning down the corners of the mouth, and with the dramatic way of holding the sword.
