This is Ichikawa Monnosuke II (2代目市川門之助) in the role of Date no Yosaku (伊達の与作) - lover of Shigenoi (重の井) in the Kabuki play ‘Koi Nyobo Somewake Tazuna' (恋女房染分手綱).
The Ichikawa family stage name is Takinoya 瀧乃屋 whose crest is ‘Yotsu Kaede Bishi 四つ楓菱’ - shown on the clothing.
Sharaku depicts this character’s indecisive and discouraging situation not only through the facial expression but also with the fingers.
