Description

Upper image: At the top left, the good souls in white clothing - led by Daikoku, one of the 7 Lucky Gods - are leaving hand in hand, captioned "We don't belong in this place; let's leave!"

What actually is happening in the shop? The bottles would indicate that liquor is for sale, along with an array of other goods, and the place seems full of unpleasant people. The man at top right - apparently the owner - is scolding a young apprentice by lifting a Japanese abacus poised to strike him. Bad souls are goading him to hit the younger boy, who seems to be pleading for mercy. In Japan, fans are used as cheering tools.

Lower image: Daikoku is seen again, this time through the open entranceway standing on a cloud. Smiling while observing the activities in the room he says "This home is quite distressed, but they seem to be good people." The young man in the dark kimono is tending to his elderly and sick father. Good souls are working on various household chores to support them!

Any comments are welcome! (S.I)
