Description
An album of senjafuda mostly depicting heroes from historical episodes paired with the twelve animals of the zodiac. The album, titled "A Mirror of Heroes" (Eiyu kagami), was produced by the Tōto Nōsatsukai ("Tokyo Votive Slip Association" or "Tokyo Senjafuda Association") around Taishō 14 (1925). The calligraphy was by Ota Seccho (太田櫛朝), who also worked on the famous "Flowers of Edo" (Edo no Hana, 江戸乃花) series produced in Meiji 39 (1906) for the Tokyo firefighting groups. Most of the illustrations are based on a series of prints titled Kyōiku jūnishi gahō (教育十二支画報) designed by ukiyo-e artist Adachi Ginko and published in Meiji 39 (1906).
