Description
Left: A goddess, probably Amaterasu, stands calmly on a floating cloud. The red stamp above her head is a note of welcome to 寿多有 ("Sutā"), the American anthropologist and avid senjafuda collector Dr. Frederick Starr (1858-1933). Starr's passion for senjafuda was so great that he was referred to as Dr. Ofuda ("Dr. Votive Slip") in Japan. The sponsor for this print is Fukuzendo and the date given is the 21st of August, Taisho 15 (1926).
Right: A traveler passes a signpost showing the ways to the Chichibu 34 Kannon Pilgrimage and the Bandō 33 Kannon Pilgrimage. The sponsor is Kotobuki-tei of Hacchobori and the date given is the 28th of October, Taisho 14 (1925). The artist of the illustration is Shiccho.
