Description
Five little ringed plovers fly over the restless waves on a clear night. A full moon is reflected in the water, and the three poems in the upper section of the print follow the theme of the moon.
Kimedashi, an embossing technique produced by pushing the back of the paper down into recessions carved into the block, has been used to accentuate the bodies of the plovers and the white-capped waves in the background. It looks as if some subtle blind-embossing has been used on the reflection of the moon as well, giving a shimmering effect.
