Description
A scarce surimono by Hokusai, this print depicts various types of kanzashi, traditional Japanese hair ornaments. The highlight of the print, the colourful red and purple accessory, has been carefully designed to appear soft, almost like crepe, and looks a bit like a colourful coral. The kanzashi decorated with two cranes has also been nicely carved, and a white cloth behind the floral kanzashi "lights up" the flowers, suggesting the ornament has a translucent quality to it. The print includes poems by Seiyôen Kagehiro and Rakuseian.
