This print is quite different to the others in the series in that the fan-shaped area itself has not been printed with a colour. Instead, the area around the fan-shape has been printed in a light cream pigment, letting our eyes naturally define the shape of the fan. The two women in the print stand on high-platformed sandals to prevent their feet from getting wet in the rain, and hold large, elegant umbrellas. The rain falls straight down - at least they don't have to worry about strong gusts of wind today.
