Kubota-san, writing from Zurich, Switzerland. I'm glad to have discovered your works and want to thank you for the beauty you've brought into this world!

Kubota-san, your beautiful work, the 'Traditional Sailboat' hangs in the center of my home. Each day I gaze at the colours, the smooth gradients, the light reflecting off the water and through the sails, and I'm captured with a feeling of stillness and reverence of our world. Your work inspires me to bring the same care and attention to my own work. I pray that my one piece of your life's work will pass into many hands and generations, for many years to come; and know that you and your work will be appreciated every day that passes.

Dear Kubota-san,

I am writing to you from the lakeside of Geneva, Switzerland, having heard from Dave Bull about your current condition. I would like to first of all express how much genuine joy you have brought to both me and my family back home in the Netherlands over the years. Not just the joy of your prints arriving at Mokuhankan, which Dave carefully untied for the watchers of his streams to marvel at, but also the joy my family members experienced when I gifted them one of the prints that you yourself were an essential part of. As a craftsman you are second to none, and I'm certain your work will be enjoyed for generations to come. Let me end this message by wishing you all the best for this future and thank you for your wonderful contribution to our lives, one print at a time.

Dear Kubota-san, as someone who aspires to print well, I was always eager to receive a print that had been printed by you. Frontside and back, they were always utter perfection. I am grateful to have gotten to know your work and will treasure the prints I have. Thank you. Jennifer OKeefe, Yellowbirch Studio, Taunton, MA, USA

I’ve been a viewer of the streams on YouTube for quite some time now and a collector here and there, finally starting my first subscription service recently. It’s has been a great joy to see Kubota-san over the years make appearances and his impact on, not only the team, but the world. I am honored to have an art piece that has been touched by his craftsmanship and to know that he will be a part of many great histories. I know I will certainly continue to share his name throughout my time, especially when sharing the prints he was a part of. Thank you so much for your gift, Kubota-san!

Kubota-san, your craftsmanship has been truly unique in these days. Just seeing one of your prints is a privilege, displaying a dedication and attention to detail that is with difficulty found in art nowadays, much more in people! Thank you once again.

Kubota-san: I regret that we will no longer be able to work together. Your work was always careful and very refined. I wish I could have worked with your more before you retired. There is no one else with Kubota-san's level of craftsmanship. You sit at the printing table and do the highest level of work as if it were the most natural thing in the world. I wonder and worry whether there will ever be someone like you in the future. I am grateful for your work so far. You has been a great inspiration not only to me, but to many others. I would like to become a craftsman (carver) like you someday. (Taran Casey)

At Mokuhankan, I was in charge of overseas shipments and inventory management of works. Whenever I was in a difficult position at work (running out of stock of popular works! Subscription shipments can't be made in time! And countless other times...), Kubota's godly hand has saved me. "If we leave it to Kubota, he'll surely figure it out!"... This is an irresponsible and dependent way of thinking, but Kubota's presence has always given us that sense of security. Although I only had a chance to talk to him to say hello at Mokuhankan, I have always looked at Kubota's work with respect. Thank you so very much. You have helped me so much. (Ayano)

Just to let you know that Your work is so meaningful! I got impressed and inspired through Dave Bull’ videos about the Ukioe and Mokuhankan technique to express one’s point of view about nature through such a fine art. So I am learning the technique from Fernando Saiki who came from Japan to Brazil, to spread and make the technique to continue alive. My best wishes, Heráclio Silva.

Thank you for everything. I’ve loved watching your work being shown through Dave’s videos. It’s meant a great deal to me over the past few months to explore the world of woodblock printing so knowing you had such a huge part in that is truly a joy to me. Thank you.

My name is Behtzua and I am a mexican living in Germany. Growing up I thought Japanese prints were marvelous things from the past. Then thanks to Dave I learned that not only prints are being made but learned about the amazing craftsmanship involved in every step. I study Kubota-san prints in order to learn how a good print should look like and I aspire to make good prints someday, knowing what a good craftsman/woman can achieve. Thank you for existing, and thank you for your hard work. All my Gratitude, Behtzua

Kubota-san,

Your dedication to your craft has been a profound source of inspiration for me. Whenever I find my own work lacking, I often think of Japanese craftsmen, and your name is among those that come to mind.
