My mother and I had a troubled relationship. She knew I liked Japan and Japanese things so she bought me a piece of your work. That piece started a conversation to repair a damaged relationship. Thank you for your work, it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Kubota san and family, hello from Karen Pittman in Austin, Texas!
I am so very appreciative of Kubota san's work as a printer. I make prints too, and printing is the hardest step for me. It is always a pleasure to receive a print from Mokuhankan, and always amazing to me to recognize the skill with which it has been produced.
Last night, I looked through the prints I've gotten from Mokuhankan, looking at the names of the printers. 久保田 appears time after time. Most recently, it was on the first print in the new subscription series, "Takeoff". So well done. Of course Dave did the first printing of that one. When I said in Dave's Twitch stream "I hope I get one of Dave's!" he replied, "You will get one of Kubota san's, and it will be much better than mine!" It's beautifully printed.
At any rate, thank you so, so much, Kubota san, for your work and skill. I will treasure these prints always.

From Dave:
Kubota-san is one of just a handful of people about whom I can honestly say, "He changed my life." He was one of the first craftsmen in Tokyo who took me seriously and treated me as an equal. I wasn't his 'equal' of course, but to have the support and encouragement of somebody working at such an incredible level gave a huge boost to my conviction that I would be able to 'make it', at a time when that was far from clear.
I will forever be proud of the work I have done together with this 'Last Samurai'.
