Left senjafuda slip: A white monkey is shown leading Nichiren to safety after his hut has been burned to the ground by attackers. This image shows the monkey gesturing to Mt. Fuji in the background, suggesting that they are standing on the Fujimidai where Nichiren went every day to gaze at Mt. Fuji. This event apparently happened around 1260.
Central senjafuda slip: The Buddha (as the Star of Wisdom) descends from high and appears to Nichiren.
Right senjafuda slip: Here we see a calligraphic Buddhist mandala called a gohonzon. Nichiren is supposed to have written over 700 gohonzon during his life in an attempt to pass on the essence of the Lotus Sutra, and over 100 written in Nichiren's hand exist to this day.
