Left: A small group offer prayers to a mounted picture of Buddhist figures during Ju-ya, a ritual event involving prayer on ten consecutive nights in October.
Right: A child and his grandfather enjoy a stroll at the Tori no Ichi ("Rooster Festival"), a festival/market held on each "day of the rooster" (in the lunar calendar) in November. The grandfather has purchased a kumade rake adorned with an okame mask (a lucky symbol) for gathering good fortune, a classic souvenir of the festival.
