Description
(Prints are numbered from right to left).
Print 17: Arai and Shirasuka. The delicacy in the upper section is broiled eel. In the lower section we see a man enjoying a kashiwa-mochi (a rice cake filled with sweet red bean paste and wrapped in a kashiwa leaf).
Print 18: Futagawa and Yoshida. The local specialty in the lower panel appears to be Fukuchi-brand flour. In the upper panel we see two travelers who may be talking about soba noodles and mochi rice-cakes.
Print 19: Goyu and Akasaka. The delicacies named in the sign in the upper panel are soba and udon noodles. In the lower panel two women fight over a prospective customer, both trying to drag him into their respective inns. This is a nod to Hiroshige's ca. 1833-34 illustration of the same postal station, where we see a similarly fierce battle taking place.
Print 20: Fujikawa and Okazaki. The famous products in the lower panel are "snow-like" awayuki tofu and one other, unknown, dish. In the upper panel a man on a horse is offered some o-sake.
