Description
A set of match label prints from the 'Ippin-kai', a group of aficionados who produced and exchanged match label prints a number of times each year.
The theme for the set of prints made in June of Showa 11 (1936), was 'strength'. Each member handed in a sketch for an idea, and these were collected and sent out to a woodblock workshop for production. The finished prints were of course distributed (in complete sets) to the membership.
42 prints were planned for this set, but two members failed to get their designs ready in time. One spot was left blank, and one was filled by a 'title' label for the set.
The characters 課題 (kadai, "theme"), are "hidden" in the title decoration.
