One design from 'Eight Snow Scenes in the Eastern Capital', this print has a fabulous story behind it (see the main entry for this series for more details!).
In this design, parts of the tree trunks directly under large branches are free of snow, highlighting Hiroshige's attention to detail, and, once again, the snowflakes falling in front of the night sky and lake almost trick us into thinking they are stars and their reflections...
