Visitors from space!

Posted by Dave Bull on December 21, 2022 [Permalink]

Now that our Asakusa shop is open again, we are seeing a steady stream of visitors who have long been waiting to drop by!

Among these this past weekend was a young man who has been watching our YouTube videos, and wanted to come and see us. He wasn't a typical tourist, but has been working here in Japan. His job?

Not perhaps something that we meet everyday ... he is a member of the team that built the HAKUTO-R Lunar Lander! This was launched on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket around ten days ago, and is currently 'mid-mission' on its way to the moon.

I was super-excited to hear about this, and I guess I perhaps went a bit overboard with my questioning. I wanted to hear all about the work!

Eventually, he managed to break away a bit, reached into his pocket, and brought out 'a little something' as a present for me:

Wøøt! The mission patch! What a treasure!

Thank you Peter, for your enthusiasm for our work, but what I do pales in comparison with what you guys are doing. I was already interested in your project anyway, but now I am really going to have my fingers crossed when your lander starts its descent next spring!

Bon Voyage to you!
