• Late that evening, down in the shop - transformed into a 'studio' - Dave records the year-end update video, including an announcement of the pricing policy

For those who aren't too familiar with exchange rates, the change meant a strengthening of the Japanese yen, and a large reduction in the amount we will receive from overseas subscribers. From a news report: "The yen’s rally saw the currency notch the biggest single-day gain against the U.S. dollar since March 1995 (27 years, eight months, 20 days) ..."

The story is much longer than this one episode, of course, and we'll blog about this a bit later - with a wider point of view ...
