All this talk about reproductions make me wonder - I suspect the answer is simple, but I'll ask anyway:

Are there concerns with this print to mark it as a recent reproduction, to ensure some crafty salesmen won't pass it off as an older copy?

Though I suppose those times are long enough that it would take very impressive aging methods to get it even close,

as I'm assuming it will be printed at "design" colours, not colours trying to mimic museum age.

But that leads to another question - if this print makes it out of your store into other places, will there be a way people are "pointed back" to the shop it came from, to act as an indirect advertisement?

I'm assuming there will be the usual wrapper with informational background, though that might get lost along the way...

Well, we're using brand new paper, and making no attempt to artificially age it, so I think there is no way that anybody would be fooled by this at all. I suppose somebody could buy one from us, put it through a process to beat it up and make it look old, and then try to pass it off, but the consumer would have to be pretty unsophisticated to fall for something like that.

And in any case, there is no way that I can protect myself against such behaviour, so all I can do is be as open as possible with our process. I'll be putting up some very high-resolution scans once we're done, so future researchers would always be able to identify our version by examining my carving ...

As for the materials we will pack it with, I haven't got that all designed yet; we'll certainly be enclosing some kind of descriptive pamphlet that would direct people to material that will let them know the background behind its creation, and I guess those 'net materials (videos, web pages, etc.) will basically live 'forever' … not sure.

You forgot to mention your baking skills, as I'm sure others who have had the pleasure of tasting your warm muffins can attest.

Here is a link about carving you may have seen and want to share. https://vimeo.com/75869761

Karl, thanks a lot for providing this link to yet another wonderful woodblock carver video!

I have been fascinated watching your Great Wave progress, as have my husband and daughter.

I would be pleased if you would add my name to your list when the prints are available.

Many thanks,

Judy
