In Good Company ...

Posted by Dave Bull on April 15, 2015 [Permalink]

Jed-san sent over some interesting information the other day, letting me know about an exhibition featuring our work that is starting next week.

It's to be at the Worcester Art Museum in Massachusetts. The theme of the show is 'Samurai', and our woodblock prints will be displayed alongside other work inspired by that theme.

But what adds a real 'cachet' for us are the other exhibitions also taking place at the Museum at the same time, featuring some other artists/designers you may have heard of ...

Van Dyck ...

Yoshitoshi ...

Raphael ...

Rembrandt ...

And here we are!

Congrats!

Now, you're going to have the final proof of lighting resistance (with the camera flashes ;-) of the pigments :-D

The Yoshitoshi Exhibit at the WAM is outstanding, and if any of your readers live in Massachusetts, I urge them to visit the museum. After that, they can ride into Boston so see the newly installed Hokusai Exhibit at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. These are spring treats for all of us who love wood block prints.

What makes these exhibits so very special is the juxtaposition of contemporary print design from two very different historic periods by two different artists in the same museum at the same time. Yoshitoshi stretched the boundaries of his age, and Jed Henry is doing the same. David's fantastic interpretation of Jed's art is nothing short of astounding (Flight of Fantasy is on view too) - you will not be disappointed!

Thanks for the comments guys ... Although I'm not at liberty to talk about it publicly yet, there is another Exhibition announcement coming in the not-too-distant future. For that one, rather than being under the same roof as some major artists from the past, we're going to be in the same room ... :-)
