Description

Although the teahouse waitress in this print is identified as 'Ohisa', this is quite possibly an error by the modern publisher. There _was_ a famous teahouse waitress of that name, but she was connected with the Takashima house. Her counterpart at the Naniwa-ya was 'Okita', and we suspect that this is the lady in this design.

The season appears to be summer, because of the kimono, and the two men are obviously glancing at her with admiration.

The pattern of her kimono, Tegumo-Shibori (hand and spider tie-dye), named after the pattern shape, was very popular in the Edo era.

The artist is Katsukawa Shuncho, a disciple of Katsukawa Shunsho.
