Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketLingering Snow at RyogokuSize: 24.0cm by 35.5cm (9.45 in by 13.98 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Mid Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: From the series "8 Views of the Eastern Capital". The area pictured in this design by Hiroshige is Ryōgoku, a suburb of Tokyo not too far from the Mokuhankan. In the print a surprisingly busy scene is pictured; despite the fairly heavy snow, people go about their daily business, carrying goods across bridges, steering their boats down the river, and so on. One figure in the foreground is wearing very high geta sandals to keep his feet out of the snow. The deep blue pigment used stands out from the print due to the prominence of white and black, the pale pink background, and the relative lack of other colours used in the scene. For more information on the series, 8 Views of the Eastern Capital, please see our Collection page. There is a slight crease on the lower left part of this print.
