The Screenplay: Scene 7

Posted by Dave Bull on December 23, 2022 [Permalink]

The sun was setting over the small village, casting a warm orange hue across the small house. Inside, SHINJI was seated at the table, looking over his woodblock prints while Miyu looked on, her arms crossed and a sour expression on her face. John stood nervously in the doorway, waiting for the right moment to speak up.

Finally, SHINJI looked up, noticing John's presence. "Ah, John. What do you want? I am busy preparing for my exhibition."

John cleared his throat. "I was hoping I could include some of my work in the exhibition as well. I know I'm still an apprentice, but I think I'm ready."

Miyu rolled her eyes. "Father, you should not allow this. He has only been with us for a few months. He is not ready yet."

SHINJI considered this for a moment. "John, I know you are eager to show your work. But I think it is best if you wait until you have more experience. Perhaps in a few years, when you are more skilled, you can show your work."

John nodded. "I understand. I'll keep practicing until then."

SHINJI smiled. "Good. Now, back to my exhibition. Let us make sure it is perfect."
