We're Open!

Well, it hasn't happened quite like I had expected, but I guess Mokuhankan is finally 'open for business'!
A couple of months back, I was planning a series of 'teaser' announcements, followed by an opening announcement, but the delays in getting stuff printed put me on the wrong foot, and ... well, here we are. A couple of months later than I had expected, but anyway, up and running.
And considering that it's going to be a long haul building up the catalogue, I suppose it doesn't matter much.
We're starting with four items in stock ready for shipping, and two more within striking distance of the finish line. I've learned that although there are indeed plenty of printers around town with time on their hands, the guys who do the good work are almost never at a loss for jobs, even in the current negative climate for print publishing. So I'm going to have to be conservative in my predictions of how quickly the catalogue can grow.
But speed isn't the goal ... getting interesting prints produced is the main idea. And to quote that old hoary phrase which I use too much: "Good cooking takes time. If you are made to wait, it is to serve you better, and to please you."
I have plenty of patience, and I hope that print collectors around the world will also try and share that feeling as they await the arrival of new Mokuhankan prints.
What's coming up? The next two items are decided and in the early stages of production (preparation of the hanshita to guide the carving). If you wish to keep track of what is happening on Mokuhankan, there are two RSS feeds available: one can be found at the bottom of the website front page, and will be used to announce new prints (or other major news items); the other is for this blog (linked from the sidebar on the Conversations front page), and is updated whenever a new Conversations post is made.
Thank you for visiting Mokuhankan, and I (very much) hope that we can produce some items that you would like to 'take home'!
