"As 'arranged', I wake up in the middle of the night ... my 'date' is calling. When I poke my head out of the tent door and look around, it is at first hard to believe what I see. My mind knows that it is the middle of the night, and I have had a lifetime of 'training' that tells me that the middle of the night is dark! But this! The night on the beach a few months ago when I first saw the full moon in the sky was nothing like this. Then, I didn't even see the scenery around me; I had eyes only for the orb in the sky. Here though, I hardly even notice the moon up above my head somewhere. It is the forest that captures my attention. It reminds me of a day many years ago when, in a concert somewhere, I played a flute solo standing in the centre of a large stage in a darkened auditorium. A spotlight shone directly down on me from high above my head, casting a pool of unearthly white light around me. This scene here tonight is like that, but the spotlight must be immense; not only my camp, but the trees around the tent, the slope that drops away from where I stand, the hills on the other side of the valley, the entire countryside, are all washed in the silvery glow.
