Description

This is the 順序摺 (progress of printing) ...

Print 1 (top left): The title print of this progress of printing series. The sponsor is unknown (松三_?) (松三_?). In the top-left is the Kobe City emblem with an anchor.

Print 2 (top middle-left): An image of a ship at Kobe port with mountains in the background is printed in dark grey. The name of a sponsor or artist appears in the lower-right (みと_?).

Print 3 (top middle-right): A yellow tone is printed on the jetty and ship windows using another block.

Print 4 (top right): A blue-grey anchoring post is added.

Print 5 (lower left): Light blues for the sea and sky are printed. The sky is printed using a delicate bokashi gradation technique.

Print 6 (lower middle-left): A light green bokashi gradation is applied to the mountains in the background.

Print 7 (lower middle-right): Red pigment is printed over the ship and the ship's Japanese flag. A red anchor is added to the mountain and Kobe City emblem.

Print 8 (lower right): Some areas of the label are printed over with black for added definition. Note that a small square space under the sponsor's name is left blank - this may have been where a red name-stamp would have been printed as a final touch.
