Description: This print, from Hiroshige's 'One Hundred Famous Views of Edo' series (which, despite its name, contains 118 prints), captures a Paulownia Plantation in Akasaka during a heavy evening downpour. The rain is depicted as a sheer curtain of vertical lines, veiling the figures in the scene. The lush green foreground stands out sharply against the background, which features atmospheric gradations of grays.

This version is a post-war reproduction by Takamizawa Company.
