Description: It is said that Hiroshige has been asked to depict the scenery along the Yoshii river many times and eventually created this design, although he actually never visited the area. The Mimasaka region, where this is located, has been famous for 'shugendo' since the Muromachi period (1336 to 1573). Shugendo is the Japanese practice of mainly monks, who reside in the mountains to pray, perform various rituals and meditate.

This version is a post-war reproduction by Yuyudo.
