Description: A beautiful image from Hiroshige's classic series of Famous Places in Kyoto (Kyoto Meisho).

This print depicts the exit of Shimabara flanked by a willow tree and a water stand with wooden buckets piled up. Just in front the exit, a group of women on the right and a man surrounded by other women on the left are leaving Shimabara… the houses of the village are visible behind the walls. A discrete crescent moon is perceptible on the sky.

This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Yuyudo.

Note: the size of this print is slightly smaller than the original. Please refer to the displayed measurements for accuracy.
