Description: This print, from the series 'Every Variety of Fish', depicts a Shimadai and an Ainame fish accompanied by a red-berried nanten branch behind them. Following the Chinese tradition of illustrating poems, the composition includes a poem in the background.

This design emphasizes Hiroshige’s meticulous observation of natural subjects, and also suggests an influence from the Western still-life painting tradition. The combination of precise realism and traditional Japanese aesthetics highlights Hiroshige’s innovative approach to art.

This is a reproduction from the Yuyudo Company.
