Description: The print depicts two standing geishas, one of them is holding a shamisen and the other one an utai libretto , preparing to rehearse a new song.

The obi (sash) worn by the geisha at the left is made of a Java pattern imported cloth into Japan from Southeast Asia and is an example of the exotic imported merchandise which enjoyed so much popularity in Japan during the late 18th c.

There is some slight foxing in the bottom left corner of the print.
