Designer: Katsushika Hokusai Era: Early Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 7,000$ 52.00£ 40.00€ 48.25 ![]() ![]() Description: This is from Hokusai’s famous ‘One Hundred Views of Mt. Fuji.’ It seems he did an experiment here: instead of drawing the actual figure of the mountain, he chose the reflected shape on the lake - an upside-down Fuji. Hokusai has strongly influenced by the Western way of painting - including color usage, perspective, and more - aiming to break the conventional way of drawing. The birds in the image are a flock of wild geese coming from a northern country late in autumn. Having finally found a land to spend the winter, they are resting here after a long flight. He depicted each bird so realistically that we can almost hear the birds' sounds! This particular print is a post-war reproduction by the Takamizawa Company. ![]() ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
