Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketBeauties at the Bathhouse (set of 3)Size: 29.5cm by 19.5cm (11.61 in by 7.68 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Utagawa Toyokuni I Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 18,000$ 135.00£ 105.00€ 125.00 Description: These prints date from the 1970s/80s, and were made by the Kajikawa workshop, which was hired to produce a folio containing 20 triptychs (60 prints all). They were made at a reduced size (29.5 x 19.5cm) from the original Edo-era prints, which were in the large o-ban format. This charming triptych allows the viewer to assist to an intimate scene of some beauties during their bathtime. The center panel shows one young woman inside a wooden bathtub while a second one is scrubbing her back. On the left panel we can see a woman talking to a young man perched on a window from outside and who seems very interested in the inside events. The right panel shows two other young women in their robes in a casual and relaxed way maybe waiting for their turn to go inside the bathtub. Great design that shows Toyokuni’s skill in the use of soft, elegant and joyful colors as well as in the use of interesting graphic patterns for the figures’ clothes. Each print is lightly tipped into a paper mat. We will ship it in its original packing, folded in three. The displayed dimension is each print size.
