Description: Whaling ships surround a huge whale in this print from Hokusai's "1000 Views of the Sea" series. The whale thrashes around, creating waves in an otherwise calm sea. A few houses appear in the foreground, and we can see people pointing at the whale from a lookout on the right. From the perspective of the print, it feels like we are gazing down on the scene from a similar lookout.

This version was reproduced by Adachi Company, presumably in the 1970s.
