Description: Two fishing boats, one coming in to shore and another going out, struggle with a turbulent sea in this print from Hokusai's "1000 Views of the Sea" series. The coxswains (or rather their Japanese equivalents) skillfully stand at the front of the boats, somehow keeping their balance despite the towering waves. The proximity of the rocks to the boats adds to the tense feeling of the print, drawing the viewer into the story depicted.

This version was reproduced by Adachi Company, presumably in the 1970s.
