Description: This print is from the series, 日本木版画粋 (Masterpieces of Japanese Woodblock Prints), a collection of reproductions of various themes and designs published around 1924. The print quality is excellent (for most of the prints) and there are almost no traces of baren on the back, so we assume that it was at least partially machine printed.

The title "Fuji Musume" means "The Wisteria Maiden" which is a famous kabuki dance where the maiden becomes the spirit of the wisteria.

This print depicts the maiden dressed in a traditional kimono with a spiral pattern, and a hat decorated with some flowers. She is holding two flower pots, one in each hand, it seems the print is depicting a moment where she is selling or showing the flowers.

The style of the print is specific to otsu-e. These pictures were sold in and around the post town of Otsu, which lay on the Tokaido Road. They were usually drawn on plain brown paper with a black outline which was then filled in with mineral pigments including the colors blue, red, green, yellow, and white.
