Description: This print is from the series, 日本木版画粋 (Masterpieces of Japanese Woodblock Prints), a collection of reproductions of various themes and designs published around 1924. The print quality is excellent (for most of the prints) and there are almost no traces of baren on the back, so we assume that it was at least partially machine printed.

This print depicts an interior with two women wearing kimonos, they are sitting beside a wall with a hanging scroll painting, and one of them is pointing at it while she covers her mouth probably to hide her laugh. The painting shows the God Fukurokuju or Jurojin (the two are often confused). Fukurokuju is the God of happiness, wealth, and longevity and he is usually portrayed as bald with a long beard and an elongated forehead. He is usually accompanied by a crane and a turtle, and also sometimes accompanied by a black deer.

In this print, God is accompanied by a deer sitting next to him, he is wearing a red mask and another man of a smaller size is holding the nose of the mask in an amusing mood.
