Description: The geisha Kamekichi of Sodegaura looks over her shoulder and clasps her hands in a charming pose. Her hairline has been very carefully carved, and the fact that gaps in the hair can be seen shows the skill of the carver and printer. The vignette in the upper right, very carefully printed with bokashi gradation, is presumed to show Sodegaura. Light gradation has also been used at the edge of the geisha's kimono to mimic the fading of pigments due to prolonged exposure to sunlight seen in older prints.

This print by Utamaro was originally produced around 1794–95 by Tsutaya Jûzaburô (Kôshodô). It is an ōban nishiki-e (大判錦絵, a "large size brocade print"), sometimes just known as an ō-nishiki.

This print is a post-war reproduction by Takamizawa Company.
