Designer: Yoshu Chikanobu Era: Meiji | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 18,000$ 140.00£ 105.00€ 129.00 Description: This print depicts the elegant Yoshiwara courtesan Takao standing on a veranda, dressed in a beautiful kimono adorned with an autumn leaf pattern. She is watching a bird fly past a full moon while holding a fan in one hand and gently resting her other hand on the head of the kid next to her. To the left, a low table holds a writing set, while on the right, a kimono is draped over a stand. The autumnal atmosphere is evoked through the leaf patterns on the garments and details like the wooden handrail of the veranda. An inset above shows a group of men gathered around a money barrel, likely playing the lottery, with Mount Fuji in the background. Another inset on the right features a poem, which includes the words “snow, moon, and flower”. The overall composition is charming and gracefully drawn. This print has stains, toning, and small chips. Also, there are a few traces of glue removal on the backside. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
