Description: This hashira-e-ban or pillar-picture format print depicts a charming and intimate scene where a mother is bathing her child. Hashira-e is a type of Japanese ukiyo-e print, specifically designed to be hung on interior pillars as decoration. These long and narrow prints, typically measuring around 76 cm in height and 13 cm in width, were popular during the Edo period.

The young woman is stepping out of a wooden bathtub while carrying her child in her arms. They are undressed and looking at each other tenderly. The fire for heating the water is still on and visible next to the bathtub. Her bathrobe, with its pink color and flower pattern, is hung in the background and stands out against the green and bamboo-patterned wall.

This particular print is a reproduction from the early Showa period.

Please note that this print will be folded for shipping.

There are slight foxing and folds. Also, there are some glue residues on the back.
