Designer: Isoda Koryusai Era: Early Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 15,000$ 110.00£ 85.50€ 100.00 Description: This hashira-e-ban or pillar-picture format print depicts a young couple embracing outside a veranda.Hashira-e is a type of Japanese ukiyo-e print, specifically designed to be hung on interior pillars as decoration. These long and narrow prints, typically measuring around 76 cm in height and 13 cm in width, were popular during the Edo period. The man hugs the woman from behind, holding her head with one hand and her hand with the other. They gaze at each other while she holds a paper roll in one hand. Her loose kimono reveals one of her legs and a foot in motion. A pine tree branch peeks out from behind the veranda, with a lantern hanging from it. The water lilies pattern on the woman’s pink kimono contrasts with the brown checkered pattern of the man’s kimono, adding joy, charm, and dynamism to the entire design. This particular print is a reproduction from the early Showa period. Please note that this print will be folded for shipping. There are some folds on this print. Also, there are some glue residues on the back. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
