Description: This hashira-e-ban or pillar-picture format print depicts a young woman trying to cool off while sitting outside on a veranda. Hashira-e is a type of Japanese ukiyo-e print, specifically designed to be hung on interior pillars as decoration. These long and narrow prints, typically measuring around 76 cm in height and 13 cm in width, were popular during the Edo period.

It must be a hot summer day as the woman is fanning herself, her kimono is open and reveals part of her body, which adds sensuality and charm to the design. A small wind chime depicted above sways with the breeze, adding a sense of freshness and sound to the scene. A black and white dog is also cooling off at her feet while scratching his body and looking at her, completing this charming and dynamic scene.

This particular print is a reproduction from the early Showa period.

Please note that this print will be folded for shipping.

There are folds, toning, stains, and slight creases on this print. Also, there are a few traces of tape residue on both sides.
