Description: 36 Views of Mt. Fuji is an extremely well-known series. What started as 36 works later grew to include a total of 46 images, containing some of the most recognizable works Hokusai ever designed. It was published c. 1830–1832.

Most rivers did not have bridges back in the Edo-period. That is why those who wanted to cross the waters had to be assisted by local workers who carried travelers on their shoulders or in baskets. This print reveals that it was a whole adventure to travel, especially on days when the waves were this rough.
