Description: One of the most famous prints from Hokusai’s celebrated Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series, published c. 1830–1832.

The reflection of Mount Fuji on the water surface, known as 'Sakasa Fuji' or 'Reversed Fuji' has been appreciated by Japanese people for centuries. This print is the only such piece in this series.

Hokusai added a touch of humor by purposefully adding peculiar 'mistakes' to the design. He captured Mount Fuji in the summer with a rocky surface, while the reflected Sakasa Fuji has a wintry, snow-covered appearance. Additionally, the placement of the Sakasa Fuji seems somewhat off. This witty surprise adds a joyful aspect to this calm scenery.
