Description: The complete set of "Picture Book of Flowers and Birds" includes 12 prints published by Aoki Suzando in 1898. Edited by Meiji era artist Gessai Fukui, the designs are reduced-scale woodblock adaptations of earlier masterworks by various famous painters.

This particular set contains eleven prints out of the original twelve. The missing print is number seven. Here is the prints list:

2. Domestic Fowl by Watanabe Nangaku
3. Silktree and Willow Tit by Matsumara Keibun
4. Japanese Wisteria and Bush-Warbler by Maruyama Oju
5. China Rose and Java Sparrow by Maruyama Oju
6. Morning Glory and Sparrows by Nagasawa Rosetsu
7. Lespedeza and Japanese Quail by Tosa Mitsuoki --- Missing
8. Asiatic Dayflower and Domestic Fowl by Komai Genki
9. Rock Doves by Kikuchi Yoshi
10. Rice and White-fronted Goose by Maruyama Okyo
11. Little Egret by Nakajima Raisho
12. Mandarin Ducks by Yokoyama Seiki

The prints come housed in an envelope with an index written on the back.


The envelope is damaged and has torn edges. The　prints are worn and have some wrinkles, but they are in relatively good condition for their age.
