Description: This print belongs to the set “Picture Book by Various Famous Painters” published by Aoki Suzando. It was edited by the Meiji-era artist Gessai Fukui. The designs were adapted and redrawn as reduced-scale woodblock prints after original masterworks by a variety of earlier artists.

In this case, the original design is from Nagasawa Rosetsu and depicts a wisteria branch with fourteen sparrows perched on it. Three of the sparrows are caught in mid-flight, their wings spread wide.

This print has a fold in the middle. It is toned and has a few slight creases and some stains but retains nice color for its age.
